Zak's Diner opened in 1986 as a tiny 26-seat spot in Ottawa's ByWard Market, named for a partner's son. The teal booths, mini-jukeboxes, and world-famous milkshakes have been running ever since. The Westboro location is a single-storey building. The route 11 bus stops right outside. Inside it has a diner feel. There's a patio, it takes reservations, and the washroom is wheelchair accessible. On Monday to Thursday, Sunday, kids ten and under eat free with an adult entrée.
