Smitty's opened as Smitty's Pancake House in Calgary in 1960, and on day one the line for those buttermilk pancakes ran over two hours. Sixty-plus years later the pancakes are still made to the same recipe. The Mill Woods location is a single-storey building, steps from Hewes Park. There's free parking in the lot. It takes reservations, and the washroom is wheelchair accessible. On Friday, kids ten and under eat free with an adult entrée.
