On Friday, kids ten and under eat free at Smitty's: a full Kids' Meal with beverage, entree, dessert, and a toy, with an adult meal purchase. There is a lighter-portions menu for smaller appetites, high chairs and boosters are standard, and the all-day breakfast means pancakes at any hour.

Smitty's started as Smitty's Pancake House in Calgary in 1960, built on a simple idea: outstanding value, a family-friendly room, and breakfast you could count on. The franchise model carried it coast to coast, with locally owned restaurants becoming fixtures in their communities. The menu grew to cover lunch and dinner, but the all-day breakfast stayed the anchor, and in 2018 Calgary's Equicapita acquired the chain.
Most locations are fully licensed with separate lounges, and the dining rooms are built for comfort rather than trend: booths, friendly servers, coffee refills without asking. The kids-eat-free locations are three in Edmonton, at Place LaRue, Mill Woods, and Manning Crossing, plus one in Spruce Grove.
