Mandarin began on December 8, 1979, when James Chiu, his brother George, Diana Chiu, and K.C. Chang bought a small Queen Street restaurant in Brampton. The lineups grew so long that in 1986 they converted to a buffet, and Ontario's biggest Chinese buffet chain was born. The Bram East location has free parking in the lot, and the route 10 bus stops right outside. Inside it has a themed feel. Strollers fit easily, it takes reservations, and the washroom is wheelchair accessible. Kids four and under eat free every day with an adult entrée. Service is quick and friendly.
