Mandarin began on December 8, 1979, when James Chiu, his brother George, Diana Chiu, and K.C. Chang bought a small Queen Street restaurant in Brampton. The lineups grew so long that in 1986 they converted to a buffet, and Ontario's biggest Chinese buffet chain was born. The Rexdale location has free parking in the lot. Inside it has a family-casual feel. It takes reservations, and the washroom is wheelchair accessible.
