Mandarin began on December 8, 1979, when James Chiu, his brother George, Diana Chiu, and K.C. Chang bought a small Queen Street restaurant in Brampton. The lineups grew so long that in 1986 they converted to a buffet, and Ontario's biggest Chinese buffet chain was born. The Northglen location is a single-storey building, steps from Oshawa Executive Airport. There's free parking in the lot, and buses on routes 905 and 915 stop right outside. It takes reservations, and the washroom is wheelchair accessible. Kids four and under eat free every day with an adult entrée. Service is quick and friendly. The food comes out fresh.
