Mandarin began on December 8, 1979, when James Chiu, his brother George, Diana Chiu, and K.C. Chang bought a small Queen Street restaurant in Brampton. The lineups grew so long that in 1986 they converted to a buffet, and Ontario's biggest Chinese buffet chain was born. The Mimico location has free parking in the lot, and the route 80 bus stops right outside. Inside it has a themed feel. There are booths, strollers fit easily, and it takes reservations. The washroom is wheelchair accessible. Kids four and under eat free every day with an adult entrée. The menu runs on ribs, plus wings, noodles, shrimp, and soup. Service is quick and friendly.
