East Side Mario's opened in 1987, inspired by the noise and abundance of Manhattan's Little Italy. The original logo was the Statue of Liberty holding a tomato, and the unlimited soup, salad, and garlic homeloaf has anchored the table ever since. Buses on routes 23 and 32 stop right outside the Mount Pleasant location. Inside it's a proper sports bar with TVs for the game. Strollers fit easily. On Tuesday, kids ten and under eat free with an adult entrée. Service is quick and friendly.
