Boston Pizza opened in Edmonton in 1964, named by founder Gus Agioritis for a city he dreamed of visiting. It grew into Canada's largest casual dining chain, with a family dining room on one side and a sports bar on the other. The Downtown Oakville location is a single-story red brick and beige stucco strip mall end unit with prominent tower element featuring illuminated Boston Pizza signage and large glass windows, steps from Sixteen Mile Sports Complex. There's free parking in the lot, and the route 37 bus stops right outside. Inside it's a proper sports bar with TVs for the game. There are booths, there's a patio, and it takes reservations. The washroom is wheelchair accessible. Kids ten and under eat free every day. The menu runs on pizza, plus burgers, pasta, sandwiches, and salads. Service is quick and friendly. It's a wings-and-beer room at heart, so go in expecting a sports bar, not a quiet dinner. Crayons come out for the kids.
