Boston Pizza opened in Edmonton in 1964, named by founder Gus Agioritis for a city he dreamed of visiting. It grew into Canada's largest casual dining chain, with a family dining room on one side and a sports bar on the other. The Courtenay South location is a single-story tan stucco building with large glass windows, covered entrance, and prominent red and white Boston Pizza signage, steps from Driftwood Mall. There's free parking in the lot. Inside it's a proper sports bar with TVs for the game. There's a patio, it takes reservations, and the washroom is wheelchair accessible. Kids ten and under eat free every day. The menu runs on pizza, plus burgers, pasta, sandwiches, and salads. It's a wings-and-beer room at heart, so go in expecting a sports bar, not a quiet dinner.
