Boston Pizza opened in Edmonton in 1964, named by founder Gus Agioritis for a city he dreamed of visiting. It grew into Canada's largest casual dining chain, with a family dining room on one side and a sports bar on the other. The Downtown Banff location is a two-story chalet-style building with tan stucco walls, dark grey stone accent columns, dark green pitched metal roof, arched windows with white trim, and a decorative second-floor balcony, steps from Bow River. It sits in Town Centre Mall, with free parking in the lot. Inside it's a proper sports bar with TVs for the game and a full bar. There's a patio, it takes reservations, and the washroom is wheelchair accessible. Kids ten and under eat free every day. The menu runs on pizza, plus burgers, pasta, sandwiches, and salads. Service is quick and friendly. It's a wings-and-beer room at heart, so go in expecting a sports bar, not a quiet dinner. The food comes out fresh.
