Boston Pizza opened in Edmonton in 1964, named by founder Gus Agioritis for a city he dreamed of visiting. It grew into Canada's largest casual dining chain, with a family dining room on one side and a sports bar on the other. The CityPlace location is a multi-story modern downtown building with ground floor Boston Pizza featuring large red illuminated signage and glass storefront with covered entrance, steps from Rogers Centre. Inside it's a proper sports bar with TVs for the game and a full bar. There's a patio, it takes reservations, and the washroom is wheelchair accessible. Kids ten and under eat free every day. The menu runs on pizza, plus burgers, pasta, sandwiches, and salads. Service is quick and friendly. It's a wings-and-beer room at heart, so go in expecting a sports bar, not a quiet dinner.
