Boston Pizza opened in Edmonton in 1964, named by founder Gus Agioritis for a city he dreamed of visiting. It grew into Canada's largest casual dining chain, with a family dining room on one side and a sports bar on the other. The Downtown Penticton location is a modern standalone restaurant with red brick tower element, beige stucco walls, large glass windows, and distinctive dark grey metal canopy structure over covered patio. There's free parking in the lot, and buses on routes 5 and 15 stop right outside. Inside it's a proper sports bar with TVs for the game. Strollers fit easily, it takes reservations, and the washroom is wheelchair accessible. Kids ten and under eat free every day. The menu runs on pizza, plus burgers, pasta, sandwiches, and salads. Service is quick and friendly. It's a wings-and-beer room at heart, so go in expecting a sports bar, not a quiet dinner. Crayons come out for the kids.
