The first Barley Mow opened in 1996 in Kanata, an English-style neighbourhood pub for Ottawa's growing suburbs. The chain spread across the region one community fixture at a time. The Orleans location is a single-storey building, steps from Aquaview Pond Park. It sits in Avalon Centre, with free parking in the lot, and buses on routes 31 and 234 stop right outside. Inside it has an upscale-casual feel. There are booths, there's a patio, and it takes reservations. The washroom is wheelchair accessible. On Sunday, kids eat free with an adult entrée.
