Swiss Chalet has roasted chicken on a spit since 1954. The restaurant took its name from the Alpine look of the first location on Bloor Street in Toronto. That same rotisserie chicken, fresh-cut fries, and infamous "Chalet" dipping sauce survives today. The Vanier location is a single-storey building, steps from Fairview Park Mall. There's free parking in the lot, and the route 12 bus stops right outside. Inside it has a family-casual feel. There are booths, strollers fit easily, and the washroom is wheelchair accessible. On Wednesday, kids ten and under eat free with an adult entrée. Service is quick and friendly.
