Swiss Chalet has roasted chicken on a spit since 1954. The restaurant took its name from the Alpine look of the first location on Bloor Street in Toronto. That same rotisserie chicken, fresh-cut fries, and infamous "Chalet" dipping sauce survives today. The Downtown St. Catharines location is a single-storey building. It sits in Fairview Mall, with free parking in the lot, and buses on routes 409 and 412 stop right outside. Inside it has a family-casual feel. The washroom is wheelchair accessible. On Wednesday, kids ten and under eat free with an adult entrée. The menu runs on fries, plus parmigiana, ribs, tenders, and pizza. Service is quick and friendly.
