St. Louis Bar & Grill started frying wings in Toronto in 1992 and never really stopped. The garlic dill sauce earned enough of a following to land on grocery shelves across Canada. The Annex location is a two-storey red-brick storefront on Bloor at Spadina, steps from the University of Toronto. Inside it's a true sports bar: wooden booths under exposed black ductwork, a Maple Leafs flag on the wall, and enough screens that the staff will switch any TV to whichever game you care about. On Sunday, kids twelve and under eat free with an adult entrée. The menu runs on wings in flavours like hot honey garlic and garlic parmesan, backed by tenders, ribs, salads, and square Detroit-style pizzas served in paper-lined baskets. Service is quick and friendly, and the room gets loud when a Toronto game is on.
