Three brothers, Paul, Peter, and Perry Jeffery, founded Kelseys in Oakville in 1978, backed by their parents' life savings and inspired by road trips to American roadhouses. The name came from their favourite Chicago restaurant on Kelseys Road. The Kernighan location is a single-storey building. The route 27 bus stops right outside. Inside it has an upscale-casual feel. Maybe more for grown-ups, but the Tuesday kids deal makes it an easy family stop. There are booths. On Tuesday, kids twelve and under eat free with an adult entrée. The menu runs on fries, plus ribs, burgers, pasta, and wings.
