Wok Box runs kids eat free on weekends: one free kids meal with a regular box purchase, for kids 12 and under. Kids pick their own noodles and sauces, the counter-service pace means no long wait, and portions are generous enough to share. Many locations also run school hot-lunch programs.

Wok Box was founded in 2004 when Blair Stevens opened one storefront on Jasper Avenue in downtown Edmonton, betting that Canadians wanted wok-fresh Asian food that went beyond the mall food court. The menu borrows from ten kitchens: Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Korean, Indian, Vietnamese, Malaysian, Singaporean, Cambodian, and Mongolian, all adapted for quick service. Noodle boxes and rice boxes form the core, curry boxes come with warm naan, and the open kitchen lets you watch your meal come together.
The concept spread across Alberta and British Columbia, passed 50 locations by the late 2010s, and pushed into Ontario in the 2020s, with outposts as far afield as Oregon, Texas, and Qatar. Today the chain runs close to 60 locations, most of them still in the West, with its headquarters now in Abbotsford.
