The Pickle Barrel runs kids eat free on Tuesdays: kids 12 and under with an adult entree. The menu runs past 300 items, so there is something for every eater, and the booths seat a whole family.

The classic deli sandwiches and the 300-item menu that grew around them, colossal burgers and latkes included.

The Pickle Barrel opened in 1971 as a humble 85-seat deli on Leslie Street in North York, founded by six partners who believed amazing dining did not need to be elitist. There was a lineup outside the day the doors opened. The menu grew to over 300 items, from classic deli sandwiches to colossal burgers, fresh salads, and sizzling steaks, served in rooms of colourful leather booths and blown-glass lights across the GTA's major shopping centres.

Peter Higley led the company from 1992, and in 2017 Cara Operations, now Recipe Unlimited, brought the Pickle Barrel into Canada's largest restaurant family while preserving its deli heritage. The catering division alone has served over 1.2 million events.
